Hash House Harriers are X-country running/walking groups with a party along the way and at the end. Our club (kennel) has over 50 local members and trails are usually 2-3 miles long, mostly off road. The general idea: The "hare" for the week sets a trail for the "hounds" to follow. We are trying to get a group of experienced and novice backpackers together for overnight backpacking trips in and around Alabama. Ideally, we would do some day hikes and simple one-nighters until we get a good cohesive group. Then once everyone's ready, try and plan a long weekend once a month to hit up the local trails.
